Biography
Keyvon started DJing in 2003 at college radio station WNYU while studying music and film at NYU. After leaving NYU, he began DJing at LA’s own KXLU. After 5 years as a radio DJ, Keyvon sought out live gigs. He chose the DJ name Kool Ethan, a reference to the comedy Slackers, and hit the ground running. He began DJing with residencies at the Mandrake and Bar Lubitsch, and hasn’t slowed down since. In the summer of 2010 he traveled to Europe for some musical exploration and found impromptu DJ sets at ideal destinations in the French Riviera and Milan, Italy. In the past few years he has spun on photo shoots for Ashton Kutcher and Janelle Monae, private parties for Cali Swag District and dozens of clubs and pool parties all over LA. Along with DJing, Keyvon runs music website Golden Bloggen, where he receives tons of undiscovered demos and singles from new bands everyday, keeping his sets fresh and unique. He also works at KCRW, assisting several DJs with their on-air radio shows. His music library and live sets are a diverse and eclectic blend of old school hip-hop, house, soul, indie rock, disco, electronica, new wave and even neo-folk.
